“As a result of a whole lot of reforms that came through in the past 12 to 18 months, mainly associated with security of payment reforms but also workplace health and safety and non-conforming building product reforms, the QBCC have been given a greatly expanded and enhanced set of powers to ensure that there is compliance with these requirements. Building contractors need to be aware of their new responsibilities under these powers and the fact that the QBCC has greatly enhanced powers to come on site and investigate what’s happening.”
